BC SoftWear launches biodegradable slippers made from natural coconut fibres

Luxury spa textile supplier, BC SoftWear, has recently unveiled its first 100 per cent biodegradable and recyclable slipper.

Available in either a cream cotton canvas or jute finish, the new slippers are made from all-natural fibres with a sole using naturally derived coir – a fibre extracted from the husk of a coconut – while the sole uppers are made with natural cotton on the outside with a brushed cotton lining for comfort.

After use, the slippers can be easily disposed of with food waste.

BC SoftWear recognised the importance of sustainability for hotels and spas and has been working behind the scenes on the product for several months.

It also recently announced that luxury spa operator, Bamford, has ordered the new slippers.

“We’re naturally extra pleased to have this order but this stands out particularly because it demonstrates the continued commitment to supporting a change in the industry towards biodegradable products,” said Barbara Cooke, BC SoftWear CEO and founder.

“We were determined that our slippers would be made from natural, sustainable and 100 per cent biodegradable, and we’re very happy with the results.”
